Within the public sector, data is essential for delivering vital public services. Because of the criticality of this information, any data loss or corruption incident within these organizations can have significant adverse impacts on the citizens they serve. Here are some examples of how data loss can affect the public sector:

  • Public Safety: Data loss can hinder the sharing of crucial information among law enforcement agencies, affecting collaboration and the ability to prevent and respond to criminal activities.
  • Case Management: Social workers rely on accurate and up-to-date data to manage cases and make informed decisions about child protection. Data loss can hinder effective case management and decision-making.
  • Student Records: Data loss in educational institutions can result in the loss of student records, transcripts, and academic histories, affecting enrollment, transfer processes, and graduation.
  • Emergency Response: Loss of critical data in emergency response systems can hinder the ability to coordinate and respond effectively during natural disasters, accidents, or other emergencies.

In all of these sectors, data loss can lead to operational inefficiencies, compromised services, legal consequences, privacy breaches, and a loss of public trust. That’s why it’s so important that public sector organizations not only back up their data but do so in a way that meets the proper security and compliance requirements.

To that end, we are excited to announce we have added support for the Microsoft U.S. Government Community Cloud (GCC). Microsoft’s GCC is a cloud storage environment built with dedicated resources to ensure advanced security and compliance for public sector entities. Now that Own supports GCC, Dynamics CRM and Power Apps users can backup and restore their data to a cloud that complies with U.S. government security and compliance regulations.

By connecting to Own’s GCC environment, public sector organizations can:

  • Use a single solution to authenticate both commercial and GCC Microsoft tenants for backup and recovery
  • Reduce data loss or corruption risks
  • Proactively monitor data environments with smart alerts to inform users of unexpected changes
