OwnBackup Supports PepUp Tech As Part of Our Commitment to Help Increase Diversity in the Salesforce Ecosystem

While the tech industry is one of the fastest growing in the United States, it is also one of the least diverse. To help bridge this gap, we recently pledged our support to PepUp Tech, a non-profit affiliated with Salesforce that gives underserved students the access, skills, mentors, and confidence needed to begin careers in tech and help diversify the industry. On average, PepUp Tech alumni report a 600% increase in income from their previous employment.

To help spread the word about PepUp Tech and provide additional incentive for our sales team, OwnBackup is contributing $250 to PepUp Tech for every meeting our team schedules. We’ve pledged to donate up to $30,000.

“At OwnBackup, we have always been closely connected to the Salesforce community, and PepUp Tech’s commitment to empowering the next generation of Trailblazers is one we believe in wholeheartedly,” says OwnBackup CEO Sam Gutmann. “Prior to the pandemic, PepUp Tech's primary fundraising method was hosting in-person events around Salesforce. The absence of this has impacted them severely, and they require support now more than ever. We’re happy to do our part.”

While PepUp Tech was affected by the health crisis, it didn’t stop them from fulfilling their mission. To help workers displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic, PepUp Tech launched an accelerated training program in May. These virtual five-week Salesforce training and certification programs provide career expansion opportunities within the Salesforce ecosystem to more than 1,500 displaced workers. Focused on entry to mid-range roles within the Salesforce community and nonprofit organizations, the program offers two tracks: Salesforce System Admin and NPSP Admin.

OwnBackup had previously helped raise money for PepUp Tech at several Salesforce events, including Dreamforce in 2019 and again during the Salesforce World Tour New York City that same year.
